Not my power steering pump S70 1998

My 1998 S70 has been developing an increasingly loud "whrrrr" since around the first of the year. Trying to isolate the noise left the power steering pump as the most likely source. At one point topping off the low power steering fluid seemed to help.

I replaced the pump last weekend and the noisy bearing sound is still there. I know this is difficult without the soundtrack, but any guesses? The noise is consistent with engine revs and is coming from around the power steering pump.

I replaced water pump, timing belt, tensioner, idler etc. about 20 thousand miles ago at 188K.

My next guess is aux belt idler or alternator, but I do not seem to have any electrical issues.

Since my son drives the car often so I would like to find the problem before it siezes up but I also do not want to be replacing too many parts that are still working fine.

Your thoughts and input are greatly appreciated!
