stranded - help with diagnosis please V70-XC70 1998

Bought a 1998 V70R AWD on Ebay. Picked the car up yesterday, and one hour into my drive home on the freeway, engine suddenly hesitates, loses power, CEL comes on, and stalls... Very sudden. I had just enough time to pull onto the shoulder. Now, it will crank, but does not start. I read the following OBDII codes:

P0172 -- System Too Rich (Bank 1)

P0304, P0305, P0300 -- Misfires

The fuel gauge showed about 4 gallons left in the tank - I don't know if there's a possibility it actually ran out of gas? I'd feel rather stupid (and relieved I guess) if that's the reason ... The low fuel idiot light is not on however. And on my 1997 850, the guage is very accurate.

This happened last night, I am back home but AAA is still working on getting a flatbed truck to haul the POS home, 140 miles...

Any ideas as to what the problem might be? Thanks in advance for your input.

Cheers.
