fuel tank removal V70-XC70 1998

Looking for someone with experience in removing the fuel tank to get at the fuel pump for replacement from a 1998 v70 xc AWD. Things started out bad, I am showing about 3/8 tank full of fuel and when I sent a siphon hose down the pipe it comes to a stop and I can't siphon out the gas. I hear gas swashing around in the tank but am having difficulty even getting the tube wet with gas. Is there a plug to drain and how an what do I have to look for in dropping the tank to get at the pump.
