control arm - bolts attached to subframe V70-XC70 1998

I'm no expert, but I think I know how this works. Start by removing the sway bar link nut and loosening the 36mm axle nut. Then raise the car, remove wheel, remove the ABS connector, remove the brake caliper (suspend off spring) and the rotor. Make sure to use a jack stand.

Remove the axle from the hub. Separate the ball joint. Now you can get at the bolts/nuts that the control arm pivots on. 1/2" drive sockets work well.

I think this is basically what you need to do.
