Buying 2004 V70 V70-XC70 2004

2004 Volvo V70 - $8700 (Mystic)

So now that my 240 is sold I've been more seriously pursuing a V70 (not XC). I had been looking at 98-about 2002 models to keep it under ~$6500 but the above car came along just down the road. 2004 w/102K miles for an asking price of $8500 would appear to be a very good price considering the year. KBB prices out to roughly $1K more.
Appears to be well maintained. Though the seller (original owner) hasn't had to do much to it besides oil changes, a T-belt, brakes, and a single tie-rod end. Good color but baked on dirty wheels and not many options besides climate control. Oh and the steering wheel is all messed up, the tan plastic? peeling and flowing.

Is it crazy that I'm not jumping all over this car? Mileage and condition being equal, should I pay extra for an '04 over an '01-'03 model?

With any luck, I'll be going to look at this one later this week: 2004 Volvo V70 - $6500 (Niantic, CT) 161K miles (that's 27K/year!) but a more palatable price.

Thanks for listening. Any thoughts/advice are appreciated.
