Whats the diff between an 850 and v70 V70-XC70 01

Can some one list the major differences between the 850 and V70. They look very similar. Are they about the same differences as a 140 vs 240 or a 240 vs 740 or a 740 vs. 940. Is it the same body, but different engines, etc. Just curious. Also how reliable and durable are they? Whats more reliable and durable -- 240 vs 740 vs 940? Thanks in advance
