Spring seat creaking? 850 1995

Okay, after searching the archives and not getting a definitive answer I'm going to throw my question out to you guys.

I am preparing to replace my struts and spring seats (will use XC90 seats) on my 850. The spring seat on the passenger side is toast. It squeaks and bangs on bumps. The drivers side suspension just started a low speed creaking noise. No squeaks. I've been told the creak is a strut noise but the archived posts seem to indicate it is the spring seat. Any thoughts? Anything else I should check out?
