Window Motor 850 1995

I was told by a volvo dealer I needed to replace my electric window motor in my driver side door, window will intermittingly not work goin up, always works going down.. this will probably cost about 600-700 bucks when all done. My question is. any similar instances going on with anyone elses car, how hard is this to replace if I wanted to do the work... and maybe this motor does not need repalcing, maybe its a contact problem or something else...any ideas will help
