Location of ECU on US V40 1.9t S40-V40 2000

I bought my V40 back in Aug 2000 and loving it(My first Volvo). I'm kind of dissapointed the other engine configurations aren't offered here in US. Anyway, I'm now in the process of enhancing the car's performance. Currently, I'm looking for an ECU upgrade. First I need to know where the OEM ECU is located. Secondly, after I upgrade can the dealer detect new ECU (car still under warranty)? Third, which brand/set-up (bang for buck) is the best. So far I'm leaning towards the one eastewrn aerospace which offers one from Watteraurer (or something like that). I like the alpha switch they offer with it. Apparently you hook-up a toggle switch on your dash to change between the stock and performace configuration.

Any input/info would be welcome.

Thanks,

AL
