Need Help with ETM Replacement... S80 1999

Yea but It doesn't matter to say initially they were cheaper and post that lower price on the message boards when the cost now is $650 + shipping + tax up front $700 then after you mail your old unit back it drops back to $600. To say initially it used to cost less and put a lower number on your post is just going to give people false impression of a lower price. Actually its expensive and good if you have the money and plan to keep your car a long time. If you just want to get it back on the road for a couple more years and sell it, then buying a yellow label unit for $150 is a good deal.

I think they should just sell the resistive wiper components and let people replace themselves. I'm sure the component cost is less than $50 each. How hard can it be to take off 4 screws and a plastic cover and change out such a simple piece? That variable resistor (potentiometer/rheostat) technology is so old and commonplace I bet it costs them about $1 to manufacture them.
