Fan doesn't run with wonky climate control module being replaced S40-V40 2000

Everything started with the wonky climate control module.

The last things that were happening was that the fan sounded like it was ticking over (a quiet click, click, click sound from somewhere around the passenger knee position -- blower motor location I now know.) Prior to this, the fan occasionally ran at random speeds or at one speed regardless of the setting.

I got a replacement climate control module and plugged everything in eventually. BTW, got it on eBay for $114US all-in/shipping compared to the $850US from volvoparts.com, not counting the faceplate and knobs that were included (an additional $80US savings.)

When all the lights lit up and the controls worked, the fan speed didn't run. When twisting the knob around, I get a faint click from the blower motor location as I go from AUTO to 0 or from zero to 5, but not when moving back and forth between the 1 and 4 positons.

Doing some research has led me to suspect that I've also managed to blow the blower motor resistor (Volvo part 30864189).

If it isn't that, what are the alternatives (part numbers are appreciated so I can source it in the local junkyards.)
