Tranny Chatter/Shutter S80 99

I was wondering if anyone has experienced a chatter or shutter when the transmission shifts from 2nd to 3rd gear? I noticed it when accelerating quickly. I am about to buy the car, it has 37 thousand miles on it. The Dealer said he will download a software fix into it. If that does not work he will then change a tranny selenoid. It sure sounds a little more involved then that!
