Dont rock the car if stuck in the snow. 850

Well, I talked to a guy at the most recommended tranny shop here in Grand Rapids, and he said rocking the car back and forth in the snow is the number one cause for transmission failure he sees. He wants to charge me 90.00 for a diagnosis, but since the car is OBD1, I really don't know what he would find. I drove around yesterday and today and re-checked the codes, and got 111 on a1 and 111 on a2, so i'm thinking the problem is indeed mechanical. I will replace the speed and throttle sensors for kicks though. I drove a 2011 jetta today and didn't like the lack of visibility or the fact that my right let hits the console, but the motor and ride are awesome. The tranny shop will install a ebay unit, but they want 1,200.00 for labor and to replace seals and flush the old tranny. I'll have to sleep on it. This volvo has been the best car ever, and I hate to see it go, but there are limits on reliability I guess. Will let you know what finally happens. thanks to all for input.

Don't rock the cars if stuck!
