Performed 2nd Compression test need clarification on PCV system S70 1998

I cleaned the flame trap. The small screen was not there. Indie mechanic must of removed it when I had him change the PCV out 23K ago. The car has started to smoke since I put the MMO in the cylinders or was already smoking upon take off from stop. I had a friend drive behind me recently. He noted a puff of smoke upon take off from stop signs. I understand this is an indication of worn rings and the cost of repair is three times the value of the car.
