Where are crank pulley timing marks? S60 2007

'...BUT - the #1 piston is far from TDC in this position .. it all just doesn't add up, somehow...."

To tell you the truth, when the sprockets are on their marks, I don't know WHICH piston is closest to the top. It's not necessarily #1. Next time I do a timing belt (if I'm still driving a car by then) I'm going to get out the dial indicator and insert in various spark plug holes and find out exactly which pistons are doing what in relation to the marks.
