"Usually even if--let's say--the passenger airbag is totally faulty, the driver's bag will still pop. they use the same crash sensor, and so do the seat belts (exploding type). So you can sort of diagnose it that way. You could have had a faulty crash sensor, but I wouldn't bank on that until you can actually and formally prove that you had a faulty one."

Are you sure about that? I believe the air bags on Volvo's will not fire, if ANY single airbag or component is not signalling. I friend of mine removed the steering wheel on his S70, and put on a Momo wheel, and this caused all the air bags to stop functioning, as was shown in as an SRS warning light, and when he got into a T-bone accident-he was the t-bone-ie-the side airbags did not deploy.
