What websites should I use to purchase a used car from a private owner? 850 1996

Hello All,

I have been tasked with the job of finding two used cars: One a Volvo - any model, but preferably one with a known history of carefree operation. The other, an Asian brand. I can think of:

Craig’s List

Bargain News

Auto Trader

Can anyone recommend any other websites to peruse?

Also, from what I’ve read over the years, the most “bullet proof” Volvo models seem to be the 240 and 940. Unfortunately, I have never had the pleasure of owning either model. Besides our beloved 850s are there any FWD Volvo models that are particularly trouble free? For example, I recall reading the automatic transmissions on the early S60s were prone to failure. Things like that. I know as soon as you say “used” all bets are off, but I am just trying to avoid a “headache” if I can.

Thanks to all who reply.

Hugh
