Question about shocks and struts and age

About a month for the leak to dry up when I used the synthetic ATF. This is probably due to the synthetic cleaning the seals but the leak initially got worse before getting better. It might be different for you since you are using Lucas. If it is the seals you should see it leaking around the inner tie rod boot area. Have you already checked the PS hoses? I’ve seen the low pressure hose leak on a few Volvos.

I thought about replacing the rear shocks too but the massive amount of rust initially deterred me from doing the job (no torch) and I never got back to replacing them.
