I have a 98 S70 T5M. TRACS is your problem. TRACS is meant to
get you home in snow and ice -- it does not provide traction
control when flooring it. In fact, TRACS is probably applying
and releasing the brakes causing even more axle hop then the
car has. Turn it off and you can spin the tires all the way
across the intersection (should you wish to do so) with minimal
axle hop.
