New Volvo battery, fluid level indicators? 850

Just replaced the original battery in my '96 850 Wagon. Because I was not available to take care of the problem, my wife just went to the Volvo dealership to get the battery.

The old battery, in each cell, had a little indicator so you could determine if the cell fluid level was correct. When you filled the battery to the indicator, the fluid "puckered."

The new, Volvo-branded battery has no such indicators and there are no instructions on the top of the battery giving any indication as to how to determine if the battery is properly filled. The night my wife brought the car home from the dealer, I checked the levels, and none of the cells were "puckering." It is possible that this is okay, but I have no way of knowing because of the lack of an kind of indicator.

Does anyone know, on the new Volvo batteries, how one determines that they are properly filled?

Thanks.
