V70 GLT Transmission Problems V70-XC70 1998

Thanks for the tip. First, though, I'd thought I'd better check the fluid myself.

Procedure: pull the dipstick out, wipe it off, put it back in, pull out and check the level, right?

So I check it cold, and the level was about 1/2" to 3/4" *above* the *hot* mark. I checked it again just to make sure, and it was the same. The fluid looked pretty much pink to me.

How much extra fluid do you think this is? Could this be the cause of my problems?

I'm kinda ticked, because before I bought the car, I took it to a Volvo/Saab shop that did a complete AAA check, which includes checking the level of the transmission (they indicated that it was OK). Also, I brought the car back to the dealer where I bought it (Honda), and complained about transmission problems. You'd think that the level would be the first thing they'd check.

Thanks.
