The margin of error does vary from maker to maker. I certainly have not heard a rash of belts snapping (with associated collateral damage) right at 70,001 miles. (96 850)

It is interesting that early 960's (with L6 version of white motor, for non-RWD fans) had like a 30,000 mile change interval and damn if some didn't suffer snappage at 60K miles or something.

So let us know how your experiment goes!
