Brake Pad Change V70-XC70

Greetings Volvo Fans
I have a 98 X-C and would like to do the brake pad/rotor change on the car. I also have a 97 Porsche Carrera which I do all the basic DIY repairs and find it to be very straight forward.Regarding the Volvo,it appears that the calipers have to be removed to change the brake pads or at least one bolt removed and swivel the unit off of the rotor. Is this correct? Also, what is the spring clip arrangement on the outboard of the caliper assembly do? Is it necessary to remove for brake pad changes? Additionally, are there any web sites for the DIY to visit which detail the steps for the home mechanic. Porsche has some excellent sites (with pictures)provided by enthusiasts for this purpose. Greatly appreciate any offers of help.

Jeff
