Monopoly vs, monopsony

Frankly, I have in reasonable proximity 4 good indy shops, 2 exclusively Volvo, 1 Volvo-Saab and 1 Porsche racing shop that also works on Volvos if you ask them nicely. Seems that most everywhere that there's enough demand to justify a Volvo dealer, there are also enough disgruntled techs and unhappy customers to justify a couple of indy Volvo shops.

I will confess that I just had my car at my dealer to replace my heat exchanger yesterday, but the ONLY reason that I use my dealer is that they still offer service loaners, since my wife also works time is a premium. Judging by the condition and miles of yeaterday's loaner that program won't be long, and I'll be forever gone from their warm, customer-friendly color-coordinated service department.
