Broken weld on drivers door hinge V70-XC70 1998

I've never had a problem with the door hinge. As a matter of fact i was surprised at how strong the two hinges are. A city bus grabbed the driver's door as my mother was opening it from the inside of the car (thank God she wasn't hurt). The door was deformed way beyond recognition but the hinges didn't budge. With such an impact you'd expect the door to push forward onto the front quarter panel. The damage was minimized solely to the door. I was impressed at the design and strength of the hinges and the door pillar.
