It all depends.... S70 1998

Early '98s have the old, 850 style 70,000 mile TB with the hydraulic tensioner. Late '98s have the 105,000 mile belt and mechanical tensioner. (For car serial numbers use the Brickboard search feature above.)

At the first 70k TB change the consensus is to just change the belt, and only the tensioner or WP if they're leaking. The consensus is to change the tensioner and idler pulley at the second, 140,000 mile belt change. Again, the WP is only changed if it's leaking.

With the 105k belts the mechanical tensioner must be changed with every belt change.
