Rear O2 fault code and dead check engine light 850 1997

If the check engine light doesn't come on when you turn the key to II, then it is burned out. Blame the PO for not fixing the fault. It is a PITA to replace the bulb. Check bay13 for replacing instrument lights, it is quite a procedure. While there, replace ALL of the other bulbs. You don't want to do this again. Unfortunately, the only source I found for these bulbs is at the dealer, they like to add a zero to all of the small things they sell.

As for the O2 sensors, I would replace both. I would NOT move one to the other port, that won't work very well. FCP Groton has them for about $140 and $180, rear and front. Look around, your 1997 is more expensive than my 1995.
