2002 V40 CD Changer install question S40-V40 2002

2002 V40 CD Changer install question

Hello all:

I have just bought a volvo factory CD changer from a junkyard through the mail. They claim it came from a 2002 v40 but the "harness" or mounting rack that came with it does not fit nicely in the obvious area in the left of the trunk.

Questions for the crew here:

1> anyone know what the serial number is for these? (how can I determine if they sent me the right product)

2> Where should the cd changer be mounted? I assume it is on the left, close to the rearmost corner of the vehicle (rear of the wheel well).

3> Are there any instructions on how to install these?

4> Is this something I should attempt to install myself or should I leave it to the experts? I bought the $20 option to have the car "pre-wired" for a CD changer. Volvo service is quoting $145 for the install. The local stereo guys are quoting $75-110 depending on effort.

5> Anyone able to post or email a picture of where it is mounted in their car? (where the factory mount job put it).

thanks!!!
