E-brake / Parking brake cable replacement 850 1993

Went to get my poor old '93 850 its yearly state inspection - they found that my e-brake (or parking brake) wasn't working and they tell me the cable needs replacement and that to do it involves pulling the rear seats and carpet up and removing the center console and is very involved and they said $400+. (They aren't my usual shop as my indy Volvo shop doesn't do state inspection.) Guess I really should use it more.

I checked volvospeed.com and didn't find the procedure for the cable replacement. Does anyone have the procedure? How hard is it? I've pulled the center console before and had even replaced the radiator, so I can deal with some things, is the cable something I can do at home?

As always, any advice is appreciated!

Ken
