LIGHTS OUT for Sport/Economy/Winter Swtch Indicator w/ Evaporator Change 850 1997

Wife' car is 850 T-5 Wgn w 150K. Since performing a evaporator change, I noticed a sharp decrease in gas mileage and some pep. I then noticed none of the lights on the economy/sport switch. Not plugged in, wishfull thinking, then I checked every fuse, all OK. No engine light or ABS light is on. It doesn't have tracs although brakes get hot on front and not on back but could have been from short city driving. Victor did ABS rebuilt about 5K ago so no indication of a problem there.
I have heard of this switch leading to the trans brain and have pulled and reinstalled that. Don't know where it gets it's power from. It appears to me the car is stuck in winter mode and not just light out. Anyone have any ideas I can try before bringing in to check for possible codes? Is there maybe in intermittent relay for this circuit? Does winter mode apply a small amout to front brakes, not like tracs, but to ease back like the starting in second gear? Is there reason to pull concole back out?
It still was worth it, it' amazing what 26 oz. of freon will do! Thanks, Elwin
