A1 1-4-3, 2-2-3 Won't start... 850 1993

Okay, what we have here is a mystery. '93 850. Transmission codes 143, 223 and dreaded flashing arrow "w" mode. Engine turns over, but will not start. It has done this in the past a few times, but I was always able to get her to start eventually, but now its no go. Would a faulty TPS (223)prevent the car from starting? Or trigger the flashing arrow? I don't wanna lay down $80 (NAPA) for new one unless I know it's gonna work. Tried cleaning the contacts, etc. already. And the kick down (143)? It seems to me that that should only affect the car in motion. The transmission is new last year. Fluid is clean. And before we get away from ourselves and start talkin' PNP, I would point out that I have not pulled up any PNP fault codes. C'mon fellas, whadya think?
