Something sliding around under the dash. What could it be? 850 1997

Yes, it will pry off easily...use a blunt object like a butter knife. Then there are screws to take the speaker out. Intallation is in reverse. Be careful and go slowly and you won't damage anything. But...did you try your speaker first? If it works, the magnet isn't the problem, but you still may be able to see what's rolling around in there through the speaker well. Good luck.

About the magnet. Someone posted over on another board about their magnet falling off...mine did too. Evidently Volvo was going for some kind of environmental friendly glue on them, and yes, it is not uncommon for them to fall off, especially in the front where the sunlight hits the dash and warms up the glue time and time again. Anyway, I mentioned gluing the magnet back on and I caught royal hell...was told that Volvo owners were rich enough to own a euro car so they are rich enough to buy a new speaker. Little did they know that I used to build my own speaker and the exact way that you build one is to glue a magnet onto a voice coil...so gluing a magnet back on is totally acceptable and will restore the sound to near perfect, if not perfect, original condition.
