If you look closely at the U, you will see a small square hole punched in the "tip" end of the U. A bit of plastic protrudes into this hole, locking the blade in place. As Klaus said, you squeeze the plastic piece to release this lock, and the blade slides out. Often the blade sticks and you have to jiggle it around a bit to get it going.
I've grappled with this more than once, is has a slight element of magic, keep trying, it'll come off.
