Hi tanker...
This strikes me as an interesting difficulty, so I have a few questions...
Do you still have the old dipstick parts? If you do, you could check the length of the old ones and compare them to the new ones... if you're sure that the readings are different, that would imply that either the new dipstick is shorter, or the new tube is longer.
How did you measure the oil level with the old dipstick, since it was broken? Is it possible that the broken part was being inserted too far, thus giving an artificially high reading?
Other than that, my only thought is that you could change the oil, refill the crankcase with the proper amount of oil (which you historically know), and then note the reading on the new dipstick so you'll know what the actual "full" indication is.
Wish I could offer a better solution... sorry.
