Yes, this is an interesting delima. I had the same thing happen with my dip stick several months ago. It broke at the plastic handle, and so I super glued the handle together and all is well now. However with heat in the engine compartment, it may be a matter of time before the dipstick breaks again and I have to get a replacmenet. My dipstick is suppose to be the same as yours (my S70) according to the dealer, so I will be watching this post with much interest.
BTW, what color is the handle on your old and new dipstick? Noticed the part numbers you gave (replacement) for both the dipstick and the tube are for engines WITHOUT turbo. Maybe this is the problem. Seems to me, you should have ordered #9454823 for just the dipstick for the older style tube.
