Instructions even for a '95 850 (from VADIS...Volvo Atersales Diagnostic and Information System) says, when replacing the pcv hoses to take the flame trap out. Then on the instructions for putting everything back in, it says, "Reinstall all components except for the flametrap." This is what the service department at the Volvo dealer uses. Cheers!
