Turns out the release ring is by the side of the car in the trunk. You have to 850

thought you said you had a sedan...I read your post and it sure sounded like a wagon to me, unless they changed the S70 considerably...BTW, the "emergency" procedure to open the gas door is in the '98 70 manual.

On a similar note, I hear the motor/solenoid making noise to open my gas door and it actually opened when the weather was warmer in the summer, but now that it's cold I have to open the trunk every time. I hate it because I fill up with gas at least twice a week with my long drive to and from work. I've bent the wire clip in the door a few times trying to give the door more spring but that doesn't seem to help. I also don't see a fix listed in VADIS or anywhere else. Does someone have a permanent fix for this issue. My problem IS NOT the solenoid.
