I believe I've found it. In our '99 V70R, the strip is 1/2" wide, and exactly 32 1/2" long. It affixes to the underside of the leading edge of the sunroof, with about 3/32" of the thin, blade-like edge projecting forward past the lower shell of the sunroof.
I can't tell how it's affixed in mine, but seems quite well attached. A strong glue, perhaps?
If this strip were the "male" piece, then the "female" piece is a corresponding strip inside the forward edge of the sunroof opening, just below the metal of the car roof. It should be plainly visible. Although it's impossible to see the final mating when the sunroof closes completely, it appears that the male strip just presses into the slight groove that is the female strip, thus routing any water that might penetrate the sunroof perimeter seal off to the sides toward the drainage holes.
Pictures taken; will be posted to http://home.earthlink.net/~supermac_insider/sr.html by about 12:30pm, PST...
Hope this helps.
