What shocks do I need for a 1998 V70 AWD? I'm confused! *help?* V70-XC70 1998

When they say "not for AWD" they mean, not for vehicles with Nivomatic rear shocks. Look at your rear shocks. If they're a little less than 3" in diameter, then you have nivomats and, as far as I know, their is no alternative for our cars when it comes to nivomats. If you really need them then prepare to pay a bunch for them at the dealer but they work very well. The general consensus in the Volvo owners world is to stick with the nivomats. For your front struts, I'd take MIJ's advice to go with shox.com.

If you've never replaced struts before, then prepare to spend more than a few hours. While you're there, consider replacing the strut mounts as they all have a tendency to break and creak. You'll also need a set of spring compressors to get the struts out. Totally worth it to buy them if your going to do your own maintenance. I'm betting you can do it. Good Luck!
