I wonder why he wants to down grade from a 245? And if he is considering a 3rd child, may I suggest a Honda minivan. The rear facing third seat will keep a child completely hidden from view and block the rear window as well.

The 1998 V70 without awd is an OK car, but only if he does his own maintenance. The mechanics do charge a lot for a timing belt or brakes.
