That shop owner must have a kid going to college! You replace the steering rack when the seals die and fluid starts dripping out of the boots. Unless you had a severe crash that bent the rack, but I guess you would know if that happened :)

Get your car home and find another alignment shop.

The squealing only happens when the pump works extra hard and the belt starts to slip.
