glovebox stuck 850

You can try search the forum for this information as the glove box latch failure is common. Basically the first thing you do is go to the dealer and purchase the latch kit. I think when I bought one last year (for my '94) it was about $55-60 USD. Unfortunately, I don't think you can buy just the pieces you need to fix the latch, so you get the whole thing (minus the lock cylinder). When you have the replacement parts, look at the way it goes together so you can see how the latch and bracket fit together. The problem is part of the latch mechanism breaks and then you can't open the glove box door. To open, you have to cut the wire clip the door latches to - that is in the center of door. First mask the edges of the door and dash so you don't scratch them. Then take a large screwdriver and pry the door open enough to get a hacksaw blade to slide into the opening. Use just the blade, not a whole hacksaw with frame. Carefully cut through both sides of the "U"shaped wire bracket. Once you cut through, you can open the door. Then follow the standard procedure for removing the glove box. Once removed, disassemble to door and replace the latch mechanism. I don't remember if there are instructions with the latch kit, but it is not difficult to figure out. Just be careful cutting the bracked so you don't damage the door or dash.

Good luck!
