Dave,
What the dealer said was true, so long as the lifters stop making noise when the rpms go up. Usually, there is sludge buildup which slows the amount of oil going to the lifters when the engine is cold and once warmed up, the noise goes away.
If you are using 5w30, try going to 5w40 or 10w40. The heavier oil might help. I still have a noise in the back of my head in regards to the oil pump.
