So the scrw hole is stripped out? I would dab some epoxy into the hole and let it dry to get the screw to "bite" and tighten up. It was already loose right? I don't think it would hurt to leave it out, though could be a cause of some vibration noise, so I guess if I were you, I'd find a way to get it to tighten up.
