One of the Brickboard members, Victor, fixes ABS modules for around $150. You take it out and ship it to him and he sends it back better than new. It is relatively easy to take out, one special tool which you can get at Sears. Just do a search on "vic" or "ABS" and his web address will pop up.
You realize that you are driving without ABS as long as the light is on.
The starting problem has nothing to do with the ABS module. That is your ignition switch, which is behind the key. Removing the two plastic parts around the steering column is the hardest part of this job.
