If you unplug the MAF sensor (I suppose that's what you're calling a AMM), and things are fine, then your MAF IS bad and you should buy a new one. You can try cleaning it (don't touch the sensor, not even with a q-tip) with contact cleaner but most of the time, that's only a temporary solution at best.
