The only antifreeze I would use is either Volvo's Type C (blue, I think), or else the stuff I actually do use: Mercedes-Benz stuff (right from their parts counter -- it's very pale yellow or amber, btw).
Besides the fact that it's so transparent I can actually see any impurities (rust, oil, scum, or anything else I really hope I never see), it's made for aluminum-alloy engines (like Volvo's brand), phosphate-free (so you don't get crud precipitating out over time and clogging your radiator, etc.), and the reason I use it, it's got a load of buffers that surpasses Volvo's own, so you would get the dreaded pH shifts that lead to corrosion down the road.
Oh, and I mix it with distilled water, of course, to 50:50.
