need help with a misfire 850 1996

I need help with a misfire that has been occurring for about 4 or 5 weeks.
The car is a 1996 850 with 101,000 miles on it. It ran and drove great…always tuned up, and taken care of, never abused.
Problem started when I was backing out of garage one day; I felt the car hiccup and then stumble on the idle for a half a second. No check engine light and no problems with its driving. I drove for 5-6 miles and the check engine light came on. I checked the codes that night; it reported a misfire on cylinder 2. I gave it all the tune up parts, new rotor, new cap, new plugs and new bougicords. Engine ran smooth, and I thought problem solved. I erased the codes and carried on. Two days later, car ran worse than normal and felt like a classic misfire again. Pulled codes and it still read misfire cylinder 2. I took it to my mechanic he played with it for a week and discovered the coil is bad. Replaced coil, again problem solved for 2 days…and it’s returned to running oddly. It seems to run worse in the morning once it’s been sitting and is cold…it’ll warm up and smooth out a little, but never really gets into all cylinders. It’s missing its pep. What could this be?!? I am frustrated and concerned…anybody have some good information?

thanks
ryan
