PCV, EGR and Flame Guard S70 1998

What is the differnece between PCV (Positive crancase ventilation?)EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation?) and the flame guard? Do they all refer to the same thing? The manual says to clean the system every 20k miles. Where is this gizmo located and how do you clean it?
