AWD 850 ??? 850

You know there is nothing wrong in asking a question...better than not asking at all.. i think we all have asked a newbie question which we could have responded the same way.

As far as my knowledge the AWD seemed to be more with the station wagons. I am told by an independant volvo dealer that these systems are very good unless someone with experience can tell you otherwise.

In general i know when you read these forums you will see lots of issues with volvo's. Not to fear because even if the problems are present here.. the cars are very dependable relative to their domestic cousins.

I really suggest if your not too experienced with cars you have an independant check out the car for you.

I would start with the engine.. including the timing belt and main seal

The suspension parts.. control arm and springs and struts.

The air conditioning and heating cores are a pain to replace due to tear down of the interior dash to get to the components.

The emission system including the catalytic converter and 02 sensors.

Most of these parts are expensive if you buy them direct from volvo and can make an otherwise pleasant experience ... a nightmare.

I would most likely buy a car which has the service records.. especially if they were done by a volvo dealer!

Good luck and welcome to the volvo eperience!
